BROOK STOOL

-making furniture from e-waste-

Pollution is one of the greatest issues the world currently faces. Especially with the exponential growth of toxic e-waste produced by consumer electronics, we're now seeing entire countries become dump sites for our unwanted goods. I thought about a common relic among this category, the standard boxy computer tower, and saw tons of reclaim value in its sheet metal. To demonstrate its upcyclable capabilities, I chose to make a stool.

PROCESSING THE COMPUTER

The computer casing I used was from somewhere around the mid 90's. Its surfaces were mostly continuous flat steel, painted beige. The process was simple, wire brush the paint off, use a metal shear to turn the casing into various strips and sheets, brake-form the leg strips at 90 degrees for rigidity, and lastly use a spot welder to fuse the pieces into a sturdy and elegant form.
